House of Fraser was founded in 1849 by Hugh Fraser and James Arthur in Scotland. Since 2003 the first shop in London was opened. At the beginning, the store sold only fabrics in Glasgow, but since 1941 it acquired many brands: thus, a small local store became the world famous House of Fraser.
During the years, it has also taken control of the famous Harrods luxury department store and continued to expand and grow until 1997-2000, when it launched its own collection of menswear and womenswear and a collection of houseware.
House of Frasers owns also other stores in other parts of the world selling clothing for men, women and children, shoes and accessories of famous brands, such as Calvin Klein, DKNY, Michael Kors, Oasis, Tommy Hilfiger, Armani Jeans, Diesel, Hugo Boss and many others.
The House of Fraser stores occupy entire buildings in London, with modern black and white interior design. The ceiling is very peculiar, there are triangular figures and a lot of floodlights illuminating the store. A long series of stairs divides the reception area from the shoe department, while in the clothing department it is possible to find some mannequins on cubes of various sizes in the middle of the room and the fitting recalls the current season.
