Galeries Lafayette was born in 1893 by the idea of two friends, Theophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn, who opened a Haberdashery called "Aux Galeries Lafayette" in Paris; here began selling high fashion clothes.
The first inauguration took place in 1912 with Boulevard Haussmann's Galeries Lafayette, and in 1932 opened its first store in Rouen.
