Galeries Lafayette was born in 1893 by the idea of two friends, Theophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn, who opened a Haberdashery called "Aux Galeries Lafayette" in Paris; here began selling high fashion clothes.
The first inauguration took place in 1912 with Boulevard Haussmann's Galeries Lafayette, and in 1932 opened its first store in Rouen.

The the shopping center is world-renowned for its incredible and fascinating art nouveau design and its excellent collection of high fashion items: some of the world's greatest fashion brands such as Chanel, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Dior, Karl Lagerzfeld and many others.

Galerie Lafayette is present in almost all French provinces and in Paris we find the shopping mall at 22 Rue du départ and 40, Bd Haussmann; in Europe we find it also in Berlin at Friedrichstraße 76.
