Balmain, the Parisian fashion boutique which always distinguished itself for its extravagant and original style.

In 1945 Pierre Balmain founded the first Balmain boutique in Paris. Currently it can be found in rue Francois 1er, but many boutiques opened all over the world. In 2009, the founder of the fashion house has been restored and Oliver Rousteing was named creative director.

In the period following the Second World War, the French fashion designer made clothes for Ava Gardner and Brigitte Bardot. Many movie stars also worn their creations, such as Grace Kelly, Vivien Leigh, Katherine Hepburn, Gertrude Stein. Today, many stars wear Balmain's dresses, such as Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz, Nicki Minaj, Kate Moss and the Kardashian family.

A classic Balmain symbol was the bell skirts, wispy with hips in plain view. Clothing always distinguished itself in the world of fashion, for their valued, original, elite, scrupulous style. The fabrics used are very precious: wool and silk, shantung or brocade. During the realization of clothing special attention is paid to the care of details and of embroidery.

In the 1950s, Balmain launched the stole for the day and the evening dresses, as well as the sheath dresses worn together with jackets with big buttonholes. Recently, the high and pointed shoulders pad, the military-style jackets, studded leather jackets, minidresses and ultra slim jeans in rock-chic style.

The style of the Parisian boutique has been recently restructured but in part kept some aspects of Pierre Balmain's original house. The interior design is classic and modern at the same time: it looks like a modern house of the French nobility. The half-bust statues have been kept and the marble and parquet floors of the 18th century have been restored. The white walls have been modified and decorated. The old furnishings were replaced with others more modern in addition to new mirrors, a part an historic one with a golden frame.
