Graduated in Law and later in fashion design Yohji Yamamoto created the joint-stock company Y’s Company Ltd in 1971.
The Japanese designer questions the structure of the dress, inviting fashion to reflect on new possible identities. Black is the prevailing colour of its catwalks, a true invitation to introspection and a tool for the creation of universal silhouettes. " The black– explains he– is at the same time modest and arrogant, lazy and easy, yet always mysterious".
