Tod's Spa is an operating holding company of the Group that also includes the brands Hogan, Fay and Roger Vivier: specialized in the production of footwear, clothing and accessories, the group is among the top players in the luxury goods sector. The company's history dates back to the early twenties when Filippo Della Valle - grandfather of Diego Della Valle, now CEO of the Tod's and Hogan brands - opened a small shoemaker's shop near Civitanova Marche.
Leather was a fundamental element in the family of craftsmen, who sewed soles and uppers and sold the products to the wholesalers of the stalls in the area. The transition from a family business to an industrial one took place towards the end of the Seventies, with the entry into the company of Diego Della Valle, who made a fundamental contribution to the progressive development of the business.
At the beginning of the eighties, the young entrepreneur launched the first Tod's moccasins, characterized by a particular sole with 133 small rubber balls in relief: to produce a pair it takes 100 steps of processing, many of which must be made by hand. The strong point of Tod's lines is the choice of particular American leathers and English "crusts", all rigorously water-repellent and coming from artisan tanneries.
Tod's, together with the other brands of the group, all well distinguished from each other but with the same philosophy in common, is distinguished by the balanced mix of tradition and innovation, as well as creativity and functionality go hand in hand with the quality of the highest levels. The production chain is still composed of a preponderant handmade component, which also guarantees the quality of each product. Each piece is handmade with high craftsmanship techniques, which make it, after numerous steps and checks, an exclusive and recognizable object. Some must-have items, such as the Driving Shoe or the D-Bag (named after Lady Diana) loved by celebrities and personalities around the world, have become a myth and design a new style of male and female elegance.
The current headquarters of the group has remained in Sant'Elpidio Mare, the village where the first family workshop was opened: after having expanded worldwide, having invested in several productions and also in different cultural projects, the company confirms its values and its mission, to intertwine innovation and tradition aiming, always in small steps, to success and greatness.
