The house of Oscar de la Renta, founded in 1965 by Oscar, a US designer of Dominican origin. At the age of eighteen he moved to Spain, where he studied and painted the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid but living in Spain became interested in the world of fashion and works for Spanish fashion houses. After a while he went to Paris, France, at Lanvin, as an assistant to Antonio Castillo. Since 1963 he designs clothes for Elizabeth Arden, for Brittany Rosano shoes and accessories and in recent years comes close to Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue.
In 2001, Oscar de la Renta presents his collection of accessories, which includes among other things shoes and bags, he is also dedicated to making jewelry, eyewear, perfumes, cosmetics and a collection of sportswear for men, in fact in 1981 he designed clothes for the Boy Scouts of America. Today, Oscar de la Renta has stores in New York, Bal Harbour, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Dallas and Manhassat all produced by Meyer Davis Studio Inc. and is also one of the favorite fashion designers and friend of the powerful editor of American Vogue Anna Wintour.
De la Renta has received numerous prestigious awards from the Dominican Republic, which has been awarded various honors for his commitment to humanitarian aid. Thanks to his generosity, for example, there are schools in Punta Cana. Oscar de la Renta was responsible for the coining of the neologism "fashion victim".
