Giambattista Valli, a fairytale told through fashion

Giambattista Valli is an Italian designer who has made Paris his second home and where in 2005 he founded the homonymous brand, establishing himself on the world fashion scene. Embodying the skill of the great masters of the past, his haute-couture creations with fairytale appearances alternate linear styles with other more fluffy ones, but basically they have a predominance of dresses with wide silhouettes and skirts in tulle or enriched with flounces and feathers. A more minimal-chic touch instead characterizes the prêt-à-porter line, represented by floating silk dresses, floral embroidered blouses and wide trousers in pastel tones. The collections are completed by leather bags, jewel clutches and shoes with crystal embroidery.

Born and raised in Rome, Giambattista Valli took his first steps in the fashion world in 1986, attending the European Institute of Design in Milan and then an illustration course at the Saint Martins School of Art in London. He began his career working for important Italian brands such as Roberto Capucci, Fendi and Krizia, before moving to Paris and collaborating with the designer Emanuel Ungaro from 1997. After being appointed director of the "Ungaro Fever" line in 2001, Valli launches her first independent collection in 2005, without the help of external investors and receiving critical acclaim for her prêt-à-porter line. Almost six years after the foundation of the eponymous brand, the designer made his debut in high fashion, becoming an official member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, the governing body of French fashion. In 2014 he launched Giamba, a new prêt-à-porter line with a fresh and romantic appeal, suitable for the contemporary woman.
