One of the spearheads of the contemporary british scene, Christopher Kane is characterized by a modern aesthetic, made up of irregular volumes, provocative collections and autobiographical inspirations. Among his most famous garments there are t-shirts with abstract prints combined with ripped pants, short and tight jersey dresses, jackets with soft lines and skirts enriched with metallic decorations.
After the graduation at the Central St Martins College of Art and Design, in 2006 the designer founded the Christopher Kane brand with his sister Tammy, that shows during the London Fashion Week. Today it is part of the French group Kering and in 2015 the brand opened its first flaship store in London. Finally, the designer Christopher Kane has achieved several awards, including five British Fashion Awards and the Vogue Fashion Fund.
The british brand is a mix of creativity, irreverence and innovation. Contemporary art, nature, cinema and the 90s are the items that most stimulate the designer's inspiration. Recurring features in Christopher Kane's creations are hand-made embroidery, adhesive tapes, lace, PVC, rouches, elastic bands and a wide palette of colors.
The result is a total look that is characterized by a rebellious femininity, a consequence of the combination of streetwear suggestions, italian tailoring and an experimental approach. Trait d’union of Christpher Kane's collections are, in last analysis, a sensuality and a touch of glamor that, however, do not renounce a strong sense of elegance.
