Chloé, simplicity and ease between london rock and classic elegance.
The origins of the Chloé brand, can be traced to a line of six cotton poplin dresses and it is from the humble cotton seeds that are born the big fashion trees.
The Egyptian designer Gaby Aghion, moved to Paris in 1945, and with her partner Jacques Lenoir, founded in 1952, the Chloé brand. They early realized the growing demand for high quality prêt-à-porter.
The first collection designed by Aghion was presented in 1956 at Le Café de Flore. Since that day, the success over the years was enough to allow Aghion and Lenoir to hire new young talents, such as Karl Lagerfeld, who with just one year of experience at Jean Patou, became creative director of Chloé in 1966.
Under the direction of Lagerfeld, Chloé becomes one of the best known brands in the fashion world, worn by personalities like Jackie Kennedy, Brigitte Bardot, Maria Callas and Grace Kelly. The strength of Chloé, becomes the manifacturing of each individual accessory clothing, even creating their own buttons and jewelry. In 1971, Chloé opened the first boutique in Paris.
The '80s saw a series of changes since the abandonment of Karl Lagerfeld and the acquisition of Aghion by the Richemont Group of luxury goods companies. At this point, Martine Sitbon takes command of Chloé and brings her particular graphic sensibility within the mark.
Although during early '90s, the house sees the return of Karl Lagerfeld, has since 1997, with the arrival of Stella McCartney, that the brand receives a complete transformation. The merger made by the designers, including the pulses of the rocking London and the classical elegance of the heritage Parisian, brings back in vogue Chloé among the younger generation.
When Stella McCartney's famous friends like Kate Moss, Madonna and Cameron Diaz, begin to wear her creations, the brand's status is affirmed forever.
Since 2001, Phoebe Philo, linked by a deep friendship and close ties of collaboration with Stella McCartney during his interlude of four years at Chloé, further enhances the reputation of the young and female designer labels, also launching a new line: See by Chloé.
Over the years the Chloé production has expanded to the field of fashion accessories and perfumes. Today it is distributed worldwide through a network of branches covering all major capitals.
Chloé is one of the best-known brands of the fashion world, the flare pants, the leather crossbody bag, the warm tone coat and the leather boots are all part of the contemporary with a touch of exotic style, typical of the French brand.
