Owned by the fashion house in Tokyo, Comme des Garçons, which Kawakubo founded in 1969, Dover Street Market is a multi-brand retail experience, which offers some of the most cutting-edge menswear in the world as Gosha Rubchinskiy, Adidas, Vans, Vetements and Stussy.
Its particularity is to mix a high-end and low brands, casual clothing to the eclectic, creative and classic pieces projects.
The shop has produced a series of exclusive partnerships with some of the biggest names in fashion, from Gucci to Vans, whilst collaborations with artists, as Frieze Art Fair and ICA, which filled the shop with art, brands are invited to design their own spaces, leading to a stylized mixture and skillful, making Dover Street market truly a market, rather than a large stock homogenized.
The first of the three branches of Dover Street was opened in Mayfair in 2004, followed by Tokyo in 2006 and in New York in 2013.
